The bike tour I did with Kala was an absolute highlight of my trip to Vietnam—truly the best experience I’ve had so far. After feeling a bit disappointed by the overly touristy atmosphere of Hoi An and the crowds in the Old Town, this tour completely changed my perspective. Even though I was the only participant, Kala still ran the tour, which made the experience feel incredibly personal and special. We cycled through peaceful rice fields, learned how locals grow peanuts, visited the home of a kind local family, and explored their beautiful organic garden. Along the way, we also tried some delicious tropical fruits together, and since I absolutely loved them, she kindly helped me buy some from a local market we visited. One of the most memorable moments was the serene boat ride along the coconut river—calm, scenic, and deeply relaxing (and yes, I even got to do the spinning I was curious about!). Kala shared fascinating insights about life in Vietnam and gave me amazing local food recommendations—exactly what I was looking for. What truly made this experience unforgettable, though, was Kala herself. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine energy made me feel completely at home. I’m deeply grateful for this experience and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hoi An.
