Are you ready for an exhilarating experience? Embark on a daring journey along the Caminito del Rey walkway, taking in the stunning vistas of El Chorro, one of the natural gems of the Malaga region.
Caminito del Rey Hiking Overview
At the designated time, your adventure begins with a pickup from your chosen location in Seville, setting the stage for a thrilling day in the stunning province of Malaga.
Your first stop will be in the charming town of Osuna, where a 30-minute pause awaits before continuing to Ardales, located in the heart of Malaga.
Upon reaching the quaint town of Ardales, you'll find yourself near the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes – known as the "Gorge of the Gaitanes" – where the Caminito del Rey trail stretches forth. Under the guidance of your knowledgeable local expert, you'll set off on your hike along the renowned walkway, which is suspended a staggering 330 feet (100 meters) above the river, flanked by towering cliffs.
This challenging walkway, whose name translates to "Little Path of the King", was established by King Alfonso XIII during his visit in 1921. You will witness remnants of the original boardwalk, once a thrilling yet perilous spot for adventurers, now safely redesigned in 2015. The upgraded Caminito offers a secure experience where you can soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
Upon concluding your hike on the Caminito del Rey, you may replenish your energy at a local restaurant with a refreshing meal (not included), before beginning your return trip to Seville. The total duration of this outing is approximately 10 hours.
Do note, the itinerary may vary based on the day of the tour:
- On Tuesdays and Fridays: you will explore the Caminito del Rey in the morning, followed by free time for lunch, concluding your trip back to Seville in the afternoon.
- On other days: the visit to Osuna comes first, then lunch in Ardales before the afternoon hike on the Caminito, eventually heading back to Seville at night.
