Why Visit the Museo Reina Sofía?
The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is a major art gallery in Madrid, forming part of the city's Golden Triangle of Art alongside the Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. The museum features works from artists like Greco, Goya, Velázquez, and Picasso, including the notable Guernica.
Opened in 1992, the museum houses a significant collection of contemporary art, created from 1881 onwards.
Temporary Exhibitions
Your ticket includes access to permanent and temporary exhibitions, except for those requiring a specific fee or hourly pass, which must be purchased at the museum. Current temporary exhibitions include:
- Until March 16, 2026: Maruja Mallo: Mask and Compass
- Until April 20, 2026: Juan Uslé: That Ship on the Mountain

The ticket is open-dated and valid for up to 6 months after purchase.
Museum Opening Times
The museum operates at the following times:
- Monday, Wednesday to Saturday: 10 am to 9 pm
- Sunday and holidays: 10 am to 2:30 pm
Free Admission
Free admission is available on:
- Mondays from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Wednesday to Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Sundays from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
- And on six specific days each year.
Groups eligible for free admission must visit ticket offices in person for accreditation.
Temporary Closures
The Nouvel Patio will be closed on January 8, 9, 12, 13, and 14, but open on January 10 and 11.

If tickets are unavailable for your preferred date, a guided tour of the museum is an option.
Instrucciones
On the day of the activity, please go directly to the entrance of the Museo Reina Sofía and enter through the entrance of the Nouvel building, located at Ronda de Atocha, 2.
The closest metro stop is Estación del Arte, which is on line 1 (the light blue line).
Museo Reina Sofía Schedule
The museum is open on the following days:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: from 10 am to 9 pm
- Sunday and holidays: from 10 am to 2:30 pm

Please note that you must vacate the museum galleries 15 minutes before closing time.
Free Admission
Admission is free for everyone on:
- Mondays from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Wednesday to Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Sundays from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
- Admission is also free 6 days a year: International Museum Day (May 18), National Day of Spain (October 12), and Constitution Day (December 6)
In addition, the following groups will have free admission: students aged 18 to 25, children under 18, people with disabilities, unemployed individuals, members of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation, APME, ANABAD, EAM, ICOM, the Royal Academy of History, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, the Royal Spanish Academy, staff working in State Museums, active teaching staff, family groups consisting of at least one adult and three children, official tour guides, and journalists.
However, to enjoy free access, you must go to the ticket offices in person and queue to be accredited and acquire the free tickets. In other words, free ticket holders are not granted preferential access.

Photography without a flash, tripod, mobile phone pole, or any other camera stabilization device is permitted at all venues, except where otherwise indicated.
Temporary Closures
Please note that the Nouvel Patio will be closed on January 8, 9, 12, 13, and 14. It will remain open on the weekend of January 10 and 11.
Nouvel will be open and operating as usual; only the patio will be closed.
