Shigeki is a top notch tour guide. He was courteous and patient, informative, and enthusiastic. His tour started with a rooftop view of the surrounding area, giving us a good idea of the day’s route. He then led us all the way through Nara Park, with stops to feed deer, the Tōdai-ji (Great Buddha) temple, Kasugataisha shrine with 3000+ lanterns, and all the spots in between. We were a small group, so he invited us to continue with a stop for lunch, and then was happy to show us any other sights we were interested in. Shigeki is a tour guide that loves his job, and that love is reflected in the energy he brings to his tour. We are so glad we met him, and wish him all the best!

Super recomendado!!

Shigeki was so kind, welcoming, and thoughtful from the very beginning. I felt comfortable with him right away, as if I were exploring the city with a good friend. As a true local guide, he knows Nara inside and out and took me to many interesting places I would never have discovered on my own. He was patient, caring, and always made sure I was enjoying myself. Thank you, Shigeki, for such a warm and memorable experience. I highly recommend his tour!

I had a wonderful time exploring Nara with Shigeki. As a true local guide, he seems to know every corner of the city. He took me to so many interesting places, including some we would never have discovered on my own. What impressed me most was how knowledgeable and reliable he was. He knew the best routes, the hidden spots, and the little details that made each place special. I always felt I were in good hands. Thanks to Shigeki, I experienced much more of Nara than I could have on my own. If you want to explore Nara beyond the usual tourist spots, I highly recommend joining his tour!

I had a wonderful day exploring Nara with Shigeki. As a solo traveler, it was great to have a friendly local guide who could show me places I might have missed on my own. I really enjoyed Todai-ji, the deer, and the local food and sake. Highly recommended!

We are so happy to write this review for Shigeki and his Nara tour. Shigeki was the most helpful and informative guide. Communication before the tour was excellent and he even helped plan the journey from Osaka to meet him in Nara. The deer were my partners favourite but for me it was the grandeur and beauty of Todai-ji Temple. After the tour we went to a restaurant for lunch which again was another experience we were not expecting. Fantastic tour probably the best we have had in Japan.

Free Walking Tour in Nara: the city of deer

I had an absolutely wonderful time with Shigeki! He is an excellent guide—friendly, knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly easy to talk to. What I especially loved was how he shared not only the history of Nara, but also fascinating stories and local insights that you would never get from simply visiting the sights on your own. He made the whole experience fun, relaxed, and memorable. Shigeki clearly loves Nara and enjoys sharing its history and culture with visitors. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Nara. If you have the chance to join one of Shigeki’s tours, definitely go for it—you won’t regret it!

Free Walking Tour in Nara: the city of deer

We had such a great time exploring Nara with Shigeki. He was warm, easy to talk to, and made the whole tour feel very relaxed. One thing we really appreciated was that he paid attention to what we were interested in and adjusted the tour naturally along the way. We spent extra time around the deer because our family was having so much fun, and he never made us feel like we had to hurry. He also showed us a few quieter spots that we definitely would have missed if we were walking around by ourselves. He knew a lot about Nara’s history, but the explanations never felt too long or complicated. It was just the right amount of information to make the temples, gardens, and streets feel more meaningful. At the end of the tour, he also helped us figure out where to eat and gave us a few suggestions for what to do afterward. It felt like he really wanted us to have a great day in Nara, not just finish the tour and leave. Nara ended up being one of our favorite places in Japan, and a big part of that was because of Shigeki. We would definitely recommend him.

Shigeki was honestly one of the best guides we had during our trip to Japan. He completely changed the way we experienced Nara. We probably would have just walked around Nara Park, seen the deer and visited a few temples on our own, but with Shigeki we got to see a completely different side of the city. He took us to some quieter places away from the crowds, showed us beautiful viewpoints and gardens, and shared little stories about Nara that made everything much more interesting. One of my favorite memories was when we were trying to take photos with the deer. Of course the deer were not cooperating at all, but Shigeki was so patient and somehow knew exactly where to stand and when to take the photo. We ended up with some of our favorite family pictures from the whole trip. He also gave us great food recommendations and never made the tour feel rushed. It really felt like spending the day with a local friend who genuinely loves Nara and wants you to enjoy it as much as he does. We were already looking forward to visiting Nara, but thanks to Shigeki it became one of the best days of our entire Japan trip. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone visiting Nara.
