Hey! My name is Bruno. Something about me: currently studying psychology in Universidad de la República, I am very interested in all art forms and always looking to learn new things. I look forward to meeting you and visiting Montevideo together. See you there!
Welcome to Montevideo! "...the most diverse ethnicities, beliefs, nationalities, aesthetic influences and economic, military and ideological invasions, Montevideo has always been tensioned between its vulnerability and its strength." (Mariano Arana, page 11, "Breve historia de Montevideo" by Alejandro Gimenez Rodriguez)
In this tour we traverse the emblematic "18 de julio" avenue, starting from the "Obelisco de los Constituyentes de 1830".
In the course of the tour we stop by some of the central emblems of the city, crucial to understanding its origins and its actuality.
Monuments, buildings, squares, corners and nooks full of anecdotes of other times that remain to this day.
The tour ends at "Plaza independencia", with the firm recommendation of visiting the "Teatro Solís" located just a couple of feet away.
We'll walk around four kilometers on foot. The purpose is to offer a current vision of Montevideo, understanding were it came from and how that origin is still a part of the city's identity.
It is recommended for those first timers interested in getting to know it and gaining some insight on how to spend the rest of their stay.
Without further ado I am at your disposal! Let's visit Montevideo!
I will be at the "Obelisco de los Constituyentes de 1830"
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
