My life has been shaped by travels to more than 40 countries, largely because of people who went out of their way to ensure I was safe, comfortable and experiencing their country at its best. Sometimes they were friends; many other times they were complete strangers. I learned so much about what it means to be international – both as a guest and host. After completing two degrees in the US, I attended grad school in the UK. Upon returning to the US, I started Amigo Free Walking Tours, where I get to work alongside some amazing guides showing guests to San Antonio the city's treasured places. I love that GuruWalk connects people who might otherwise be ships passing in the night. And it allows me to show off the beautiful city I've called home since my earliest days. Join me for a walk through its streets and along its famed river to see why it's so special!
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime local exploring downtown, you’ll always find something new to learn and see in this beautiful city! There's no set price for our Free Public Tours - you pay whatever you feel is fair at the end - so priceless knowledge is guaranteed and possibly a shot at one day winning Jeopardy, thanks to the small details and random facts learned along the way!
The Downtown Tour starts where San Antonio began and ends at the crown jewel of its skyline. Join us for "a few of our favorite things" that will leave you marveling at the city's unique character. Along the way, we will see San Fernando Cathedral, the River Walk, the Alamo, the Menger Hotel, the Confluence of Civilizations Mosaic, and Hemisfair Park.
The schedule of tours is released one month at a time (usually a week or two beforehand).
>>Reservations must be made at least 90 minutes before the tour time to guarantee the tour
The tour meets in Main Plaza, just to the left of San Fernando Cathedral’s entrance. Our guides usually wear a bright shirt with FREE TOUR on the back.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
