Our core value at Zaytuna Tours is to be an active agent in the establishment of sustainable halal tourism as the only key solution against the fast and massive tourism trends. Besides, we wish to increase awareness on the importance of an equitable interpretation of the history and a fair representation of the local tradition and inhabitants with a sincere treatment of these two actors. Personally I have a BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology and at this moment I am the director of Zaytuna Tours Travel Agency. I was always working in the tourism sector around Europe, and I had the pleasure to be a freelancer entrepreneur owning a Bike Taxi in Amsterdam. My main goal now, since I am located in Córdoba is to share my experience and my modest knowledge of the past of Andalusia. There was a privileged place in history, where the East and West wisdom synthesized, where for millennia on the South of Peninsula Ibérica, was fused the finest and most elevated of the spiritual and philosophical knowledge.
First of all, we will get a brief but consistent introduction to the historical events that took place for the eight centuries that Al Andalus ruled the West since the Tariq Bin Ziad first stepped in Iberica until the last Berber Kingdom, the Nasrid from Granada, resisted the Castilian Crown reconquest.
Our main purpose is to revive important figures from Al Andalus in the scientific fields and through their example restore the memory and greatness of Al Andalus.
Figure as Ibn Hazm (literature and theology), Ibn Rush (Averroes), Ibn Arabí and Ibn Masarra (philosophy), Ziryab (arts), Ibn Jaldun (history), Ibn Firnás (inventor), Al Gafiqí (oculist), Azarquiel (astronomy) will be discussed during the tour.
The walk will go on around the Old Center of Córdoba, places like the Puerta de Almodovar, the exterior of Córdoba Mosque, the Roman Bridge are one of the few places on our itinerary.
