To put it in a nutshell,I´m said to be an open-minded and easy-going person passionate about languages and broadening her horizons. Otherwise I´m an interpreter (EN, FR, CS) / translator and a fully trained tour guide. Though originally based in Prague, I´ve been living in Paris for some time already. I´d never say I know all her secrets – the better, beauty can´t do without a bit of mysterious touch. Anyway, I suffer from natural curiosity and I really enjoy getting know better the places where I live and sharing this passion with others, showing visitors around... Furthermore, this gives me a unique insight of a local and assimilated foreigner at the same time. Last but not least, I never manage to squeeze me in these short descriptive sections - better to meet in person!
Please note: the regular tour is temporarily suspended in December due to a special Christmas walk. However, it´s possible to agree upon a day and organize an extra Montmartre tour for groups of at least 4 people. Otherwise I´ll be more than happy to see you on Christmas walk! My apologies for any inconvenience.
Hello, I´m Katerina, please let me invite you for a tour and let´s explore together iconic, as well as hidden sides of Montmartre.
No doubt Montmartre is a very distinctive part of Paris. It´s not necessary to pronounce the name with a French accent to spark off a whole chain of associations – Sacré Coeur, Edith Piaf and Amélie Poulain accordion melodies, artists and their dancing muses... However, Montmartre sparks lots of controversies. Is it picturesque or cheesy? Inspiring or stultifying? Charming and peaceful or touristy and full of hustle and bustle? Up to you to choose;) However, I might give you some back-up if you want.
What to expect:
Itinerary:
obviously, we´ll cover all the musts (Moulin Rouge, Sacré Coeur, Place de Tertre, Cabaret des Assassins...)
furthermore, get ready for tiny twisted streets leading to serene parks and hidden corners enjoying breathtaking views
To put it simply, get ready for a mixture of the very essence of Montmartre, allowing you to experience both sides of the coin – Montmartre the secluded village and Montmartre the glorious artistic oasis.
duration: 1,5 - 2h -depends as well on your curiosity - any questions welcome! I´m not all-wise, I admit, but I´ll do my utmost to give you an answer and accommodate your needs.
Looking forward to seeing you!
by the (only) exit of metro Blanche (line 2; light blue), - get out of the metro, turn back and behind a large map of metro lines, you´ll see a tiny bush bed. You can find me easily thanks to my owlie guiding sign
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
