He and his wife have since then become leaders of the present Jewish community both in the synagogue as well as co-founders of Limud Mallorca – an organization that promotes Jewish diversity and its history and culture. They are passionate about inclusivity, connections, and telling stories that are otherwise left untold. They love sharing their discoveries with others.

Tour description

We will begin our walk through the old Jewish quarter of Palma visiting its small Interpretation Center, where we will learn about the secret Jewish history of the island. Then we will walk through the narrow windy streets that will take us through its labyrinth while we hear stories of the Spanish Inquisition and its effects on the community they still feel today. We will learn about the Chuetas (or Marranos), a group of Majorcans who are descendants of the Crypto-Jews of the 16th and 17th centuries. We will visit the statue of Jafuda Cresques, the most famous Jewish cartographer in Palma, whose maps helped Christopher Columbus find the New World. We will see the places where two ancient synagogues used to be. I will tell you what famous foods in Mallorca have pork and why.
