I'm a 25+ years old Chicago city dweller with a penchant for maps, food, architecture, culture and history. I've worked in the downtown food and beverage industry for the last 10+ years and have been giving tours informally for family and friends for decades, and more recently as a trained tour guide and local expert. I love sharing my amazing city with visitors and after doing this for years, I know how best to get around, especially on days where we have weather challenges. While many people hunker down on a cold or rainy day, we can be out exploring Chicago using the pedway, L Train, buildings and overhangs for our adventure! I put myself in your shoes because, when I travel, I'm obsessed with finding the right tour to help me dive into a city or deepen my knowledge. This tour will do both of those things for you.

Tour description

My goal is for you to see and learn as much as we can in our time together. We'll see both major and off-the-beaten-path sights in Chicago while winding our way through the underground Pedway, skyways and buildings, popping out in just the right spots to get views and learn about some of our notable sights. This tour is fabulous all year-round but if you're visiting Chicago in the colder months or here on a rainy day, THIS is the tour for you as Mother Nature won't stop us!

We start at Block 37, a landmark block in the city center where we're sheltered from the elements. From there, we'll use the underground Pedway and some of the Loop's key buildings as our path, to see sights like City Hall, Daley Center and Plaza, Marina City, Riverwalk, Chicago Theatre, Michigan Avenue and Cultural Center. The Pedway is familiar to only a percentage of locals and I'll help us traverse part of it's 5 miles that connect more than 50 buildings. For an additional perspective, we'll jump into some buildings to admire the architecture and art. During November and December, we’ll have the chance to see some of Chicago’s Holiday decorations and even the Chriskringlemarket. We'll also stop along the way for a snack opportunity from one of Chicago's decades-old beloved shops.

Rain Poncho will be provided, if needed. Please be prepared for the weather and dress in layers as we will be inside and outside. If the weather is pleasant, I'll adjust the tour to spend more time outdoors but we will still get a peek at the Pedway.
