Hi, glad to meet you, my name is Alfredo R. . I am from Lima city, I live there and I work as a Licensed Tour Guide by the peruvian Ministry of Tourism (initials in spanish MINCETUR) for over 17 years. I am a Transfer Person, Tour Conductor and Tour Leader as well. Finishing my studies in a local institute, I worked as Tour Guide in Lima city when I received some offers for working as Guide, Transporter and Tour Conductor out from my city: Puno, Cusco cities and Bolivia (Southern highlands) and after Chiclayo, Trujillo, Chachapoyas, Cajamarca and Piura cities (Northern coast and highlands). Thanks to my experience, sometimes I am a Tour Advisor making tour programs and I can guide in different places talking about many themes. Hope to meet you in Lima!

Tour description

We will walk through the old buildings of Barranco, the old beach city of Lima in past centuries.

On our route, we see 2 Mansions: Osma Museum one of the best places to watch viceroyal art and Mario Testino Museum of that very famous peruvian photographer. On the route you'll see to a Champion of the World.

Getting the Barranco cliffs, we watch a place where happened the Battle of San Juan beetwen the Peruvian and Chilean Armies, fact that happened inside of the war beetwen both countries.

When you reach the main square of Barranco, you can look around the buildings, the old mansions of the former Lima high society. The Municipality and Cathedral of Barranco are there.

There is a tram in the area, one of the last ones that Lima has until today. We have a good view of Barranco in front of the sea and we walk along a street where you can see artistic murals. In the same way, we go to the beach to see the location of Lima, a huge cliff in front of the sea.

When we get back we go upstairs and take some minutes to visit a local Museum. Continuing our route, we will reach the Bridge of Sighs, one of the most romantic places of Lima, the old meeting point for lovers in the afternoons and evenings. When we go up we have a panoramic view of the neighborhood. We walk a few meters to see the largest group of Barranco murals.

We still walking to watch more mansions having the chance to visit some of them and time for some coffee or buying something to take.

Finally, we arrive to the main Plaza of Barranco to end our Tour.

Alfredo left me hanging until 90 minutes before the tour. Saying he may have to cancel then telling me he would let me know the morning of the tour, then not letting me know the morning of the tour and then only after I had traveled all the way to barranco telling me he had booked a Spanish group during the time slot of my English tour. Tha kfuuly one of the other group members was pretty Fluent in English so what I missed she filled me in on as Alfredo refused to (though he softened this position as the tour went on) when the other 3 members didn't give him the tip he wanted he insisted they give him more. I found it embarrassing and in poor taste.
