Neighbouring Havana

Duration: 2h
Languages: English, Spanish

I have been working as a tour guide in the city of Havana and other cities for over 6 years. I studied Geography at Havana University and I have a huge passion for history. I have lived in Havana for 8 years now and I have also lived in other cities such as Holguin, where I am from, Matanzas and other towns. The English I speak, I learned it by myself, since I was a little kid. I started studying, listening to music, reading books, paying a lot of attention to movies and other shows. Today, I can't picture my life without english. Having lived in other parts of the country, gives me the opportunity to provide a different insight about the country. This point of view is what I want to share with tourists.

Tour description

With Neighboring Havana you will be able to walk the streets of Havana, but not just seeing the history of places, but also enjoying the interaction between locals and you.

We will start at the Central Park in Old Havana, where we will have our first approach to the city and its people, very interesting and reveling details of the place await. From there, we will head to the ocean by fallowing the Prado Promenade, where art, tradition and daily life mingle as one every single day.

Reaching the Malecon, we will have a small dose of sad facts in our history, that today, represent the pride and the fight of the city of Havana. From there we will walk to the Revolution Museum to take a glance at this part, and find out about the ways Spaniards had to defend the city from those who liked attacking us five hundred years ago.

Continuing our walk through one of the oldest streets that are part of the old Town, we will dive into the core of the city and visit the main squares that have been part of our life's for around five centuries.

While we do our walk through Havana, we will have the chance to visit and enter places such as; Bodegas, where cubans buy their monthly food rations; the Agromercados, where we get fresh vegetables, fresh meat, rice, beans and more; we will be able to see the Habaneros in their daily life, trying to sell you cigars, trying to get you into a restaurant, trying to get you involved in their games to see what they can get.

I will help you figure out your way around for later, explain to you how to deal with our two different currencies, which is a big headache even for us, what taxis are better to take and what prices to expect from the different places. I will assist you with as much help as you need to make your trip pleasant and enjoyable. My goal is for you to enjoy it and to recommend it to friends as a safe and great tour to take.
