About the tour
Have fun with us in this Guruwalk through the unique city of Astorga, where you will know the most interesting places and the most unique anecdotes. Asturica Augusta is known for its Roman legacy, for its famous characters such as the Panero or Antonio Gaudí, or for its world-famous maragato stew. Without a doubt, the best Free Tour ever!
Our free walking tour starts of the city begins in the Eduardo de Castro Square (in front of the Episcopal Palace), from where we will go to the Panero House, a famous family in Astorga.
We will continue to the Sancti Spiritus convent to see the beautiful altarpieces shown here. After passing in front of the Museum of Time, our next stop will be the Sanctuary of Fatima, with its beautiful polychrome coffered ceiling.
Walking through the renovated Synagogue Gardens, we will then arrive at an old Roman domus, before heading to the church of San Bartolomé to contemplate the famous silver dressing room of the Virgin.
Crossing the Roman ergastula we will find ourselves in the Plaza Mayor, where the Town Hall building is located. Then we will know the history of the Monument to the Sites, to finally arrive to the Casa Granell because of its chocolate relationship, and the ancient Roman walls.
