We are Discover Walks: Europe's #1 for custom and private tours. When you pick a tour, you ask yourself: does it rate high? But you can also ask: will they both show me the must-see landmarks and “take me backstage” for a taste of the real city? Do they keep their groups small, with good facetime with the guide? Will my guide be not some expat, but a true local with a passion for her/his hometown? A guide able to give me more than just facts, dates and figures? In other words, will I be just another tourist? Or will they “lift the curtain” for me? Discover Walks creates tours that include both the tourist must-sees and locals’ hidden gems. We select guides who are true locals with great personalities. We train them to be engaging and personable and to tell a story well. We keep our groups small, by adding an extra guide when necessary. Welcome on our free, tip-supported, tours!

About the tour

Visit the Prague castle after it closes. The crowds are gone. The magic returns.

This tour covers both the must-sees and the "backstage" of the Castle.

** The must-sees: saint Vitus cathedral, Parade Gate, Parliament, the presidential gardens, the presidential guard in bib and tucker.

** The back-stage: the Communist "confession" chambers, the red light lane of yesteryear, the military barracks, the monasteries etc.

** and the stories. What happened to Hitler in this castle? How did Vaclav Havel muscle Communism down to the ground? How much lead was king Rudolf able to turn into gold?

The buildings are closed but the grounds stay open for us. This is not an official history tour, it’s a stroll about the Castle grounds, in the company of a local.

Our meeting point is but 5 minutes away from the Charles Bridge, at the foot of the Castle. From there we hop on tram #22, for a short ride on Prague’s most romantic streetcar.

After your tour, your guide will help you back to public transportation or to a taxi. S/he can also make informed recommendations about things for you to do after your tour.

This is a free tour supported by tips. You pay what you want, at the end of your tour.

A great tour, I can absolutely recommend it. Our guide Aja was super friendly and entertaining and she knew many interesting facts about the castle and Prague, she gave also helpful tips on other places to visit. Our group was very small, which made me feel safe, comfortable and included.

FANTASTIC! I absolutely loved my tour with Petra. I was the only "walker" that registered for the tour, which I could imagine may discourage some tour guides, but not Petra. She catered the tour to my interests, and answered my questions about history and architecture in great detail. The Castle is also beautiful and breath-taking. Charming, kind and polite, I highly recommend Petra and the Discover Walks tours to any Prague visitor. P.S. Ask about the signatures in the stones of the church! Such a cool fact!
