Sinaia - From the Bandits' Nest to the Cradle of the Romanian Dynasty - Walking Tour
I like to travel the world to discover the most interesting, but more. I like to talk about my country, with many legends and stories about my people. As a travel guide, I have an experience of more than 5 years: in Romania, Malta and Turkey.
Tour description
Once upon a time the endless forests of the Prahova Fence were reputed to be „The Nest of Bandits”. Over time it came to have the nickname of „The Cradle of the Romanian Dynasty”. Today it is a place that is worth being seen by the monkeys once in a lifetime.
Until the end of the 17th century, few dared to travel to this place, until a prince took refuge here and thus began the history of the Sinaia Monastery. Almost two centuries later, the one who would be the first king of Romania, Carol I, attracted by the wild beauty of the area, traveled here and decided to build a summer residence here, Peles Castle. In a short time the place became the favorite place of the Romanian upper class, and thus the area began to fill with luxurious vacation homes, hotels, casinos, restaurants and shops. At the end of the 19th century Sinaia became „The summer capital of Romania”.
The tour can optionally include a guided tour inside the castles, but the entrance fees are to be paid separately upon entering and the visit can last between one and two hours.
Peleș Castle was the summer residence of King Carol I of Romania, the founder of the dynasty. The castle was built in the Gothic-Renaissance style and at its time was the most modern and beautiful in Europe and the world. It had elevators, central heating, plumbing, and electric skylights. Today Peles is a museum and has a very large collection of arsenals and many objects from "La Belle Epoque" and that belonged to the family. That is to say, it has everything that a "castle from a fairy tale" should "have".
Pelisor Castle is the second most important building of the Sinaia Royal Domain and was the residence of the second couple of the Romanian Dynasty, King Ferdinand and Queen Maria, the founders of Greater Romania. This one is a bit smaller but no less interesting.
The tour is organized by a certified tour guide and is organized in small groups (maximum 10 people).
Your participation will be possible and guaranteed only with a prior reservation.
