Don’t miss the tour! Don’t miss Judy! Having arrived in Budapest with very little knowledge on the city and culture we decided to join the ‘Budapest Free Walking Tour’ on our first morning. It was a 2.5 hour walking tour that gave a broad overview of Budapest and the Hungarian culture. Our tour guide Judy, was fantastic, her genuine enthusiasm for her city as well as her extensive knowledge, perfect English and keen sense of fun came together to make for a thoroughly educational and entertaining few hours. The vibe of the tour was very relaxed, participants were encouraged to ask questions and interact so that the tour becomes tailored to your specific interests.
A great great way to get to know the city. The Pesht tour doesn't just go through the sights and history but our guide Edi tells you all the little details. How to tell good goulash versus the stuff for tourists... where to drink... where to hang out... where to change your money.... and the best part is this is not a sponsored business - it's just great opinions from the locals. Edi was really patient with our group, entertaining, and spoke great english. She encouraged interaction and questions. So thank you!
Thank you, Petra! This was a truly fantastic way to learn about the city. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the guide made the morning walking tour a fascinating and informative walk round the city. Petra shared many useful traveller tips and bits of local knowledge that we would otherwise have missed. Would recommend this early on in your visit as there are many places on the route that would be worth going back to spend more time after the tour ends.
My husband and I were in Budapest for 3 days. We were glad to find Free Budapest Walking Tours. Our first full day in Budapest we took the 10:30 general tour for Pest and later also took both the Jewish and Communist afternoon tours. them. It was great for our first day since the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide called Gery gave us not only lots of basic historic info but also many recommendations about what not to miss, good and reasonable restaurants, areas to avoid, etc. We recommend them 100%.
