Gani Nasirov is the founder of Baku Free Tour and Azerbaijan Traveller. His company was awarded the “3rd Best Free Tour in Asia” in 2017 by freetour platform. He has studied International Relations (Qafqaz University, Baku) and in particular EU-Russian studies (University of Tartu, Estonia). His two-year work experience in Gedabay Gold and Copper Mine gave him passion and enthusiasm to travel and explore regions of Azerbaijan and develop and organize alternative tours and trips. His interest includes researching into local stories such as urban legends and myths food and culture tours, architecture. He regularly publishes blog posts about Baku.

About the tour

This tour offers a walk through the most historic sightseeing highlights of Baku, the Fountains Square and four UNESCO sites in Old Town (Icherisheher) meanwhile reflecting on Baku’s past and the transformation that brought by oil barons and their quest for personal glory and fame.

You will also get acquainted with social, cultural, political aspect of every-day life in Baku on the background of stories based on real life of oil barons in late 19th and early 20th century as well as soviet and modern times. The tour ends with free cup of tea at Coffee Moffie.

Nice tour guide who gave in depth knowledge about the city, as well as free tea, well worth your time, also his tour running at 5pm worker much better than I'd imagine a 10pm one would as it was much cooler so you could actually walk around comfortably
