I have been teaching my city to national and international tourists for years. I like to approach art and history in an entertaining and fun way, without giving up the laughter and supporting the explanations in various images that will help you understand all the possible "Zaragozas": from the Roman Caesar Augusta to the futuristic city created in the 2008 expo. You can't imagine everything you can discover here: goyas, origami, oriental art, river sunsets, contemporary sculpture, and a long etcetera. I would be happy to inform you, at the end of the visit, how you can continue to freely discover the city. For this, I will offer you the necessary tourist information with schedules, addresses and possible tickets for all monuments, museums, and places of interest. I am an official guide of Aragon, Art Historian and I do my work in Spanish, English, French and Italian.

Tour description

The s. XVI was the best moment for Zaragoza, it was then La Harta, it lacked nothing.

In the secluded Plaza de San Felipe we can appreciate what that city was like, almost disappeared under the fierce urbanism of the s. XX. The square brings together 16th and 17th palaces and one of them became the only sculpture museum dedicated to Pablo Gargallo in the world. That is why this visit will allow us to know simultaneously the evolution of contemporary sculpture and the precious Aragonese brick renaissance.

Aragon was the birthplace of two sculptors who shared a friendship and name with Picasso: Pablo Gargallo and Pablo Serrano . Today we will see Gargallo's, as he will begin our steps through modernist Barcelona and Rodin's Paris. We will soon see how Pablo's artistic language evolved, how his sculptures began to fill with holes and concavities, but without ever giving up on creating precious nudes of classic and refined beauty. Pablo Gargallo dies too soon, on the verge of being known worldwide, before the Second World War. It will be thanks to the tenacity of his wife and daughter (both French), how the artist's sculptural legacy was not lost and ended, after many adventures, inside one of the most beautiful palaces in Zaragoza.
