Tour description

Come and join me on an exciting tour of the West End of Glasgow! I am Alex, a friendly local who has lived and studied here my whole life. Learn about the history of Byers Road and tour the beautiful University which is often compared to Harry Potter's Hogwarts. There will also be plenty of time to discuss good places to eat and drink and how to travel around the rest of this vibrant city.

We will begin our tour by meeting at the main gate of the Botanic Gardens. We will then go into the Gardens and admire Kibble Palace, before making our way along the iconic Byers Road where I will share the history of this street, stopping past Glasgow's famous 'clockwork orange' underground station. From here, we shall walk up towards Glasgow's University, where we will have time to explore the beautiful campus which is rich in history. At the top of the University hill we will also get a great view of Glasgow, facing down to the riverside where Glasgow's BBC is based and Hydro Concert venue. Leaving the University ground we will pass by one of Glasgow's loveliest parks, Kelvingrove, before reaching the impressive Kelvingrove Art Gallery. We will finish our tour by making our way up Byers Road again and finishing in Ashton Lane, a great spot for food and drinks in the West End. This tour should take about two hours in total, with plenty of time to take pictures and ask questions throughout.
