I'm originally from London, but like many people in their early twenties, my sense of adventure got the better of me and I spent many years travelling the globe. I eventually wound up in Rome - a city that’s frozen in time and impossible not to fall in love with. I’ve worked as a professional licensed guide in Europe for over 15 years now - meaning I’m not only an expert in Roman history, but also that of many other cultures across the continent. For me, meeting people from all over the world is one of life’s greatest pleasures. I can guarantee to keep learning and history fun - so join me on a tour and let me share this amazing city with you.

About the tour

Rome is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque cities in the world to explore. Join me on an enchanting stroll through the city centre as we visit some of the major sights that you really shouldn’t miss, plus some of my off-the-beaten-track spots. My route is carefully curated and I make sure to take characteristic little back alleys that few venture down.

We meet at the base of Trajan’s Column, next to the Venice Square (Piazza Venezia), in the real heart of the Eternal city. After getting to know each other, I will begin to explain the ancient Imperial Forum, the unification of Italy and the rebirth of Rome during the Renaissance.

The Trevi Fountain attracts millions of visitors every year and with me you will find out why! Admire its beauty as I give you the full story behind the fountain and we get to the bottom of the coin-throwing tradition.

The next stop will be in Piazza della Rotunda, the location of the world-famous Pantheon. Experience this most important of Rome’s pagan temples and discover its dynamic uses over 2000 years!

We save the best till last: Piazza Navona, which is by far the most elaborate of Rome’s squares. Absorb the ambiance as we get into the rivalry between the artists whose works have defined the beauty of this square.

We finish near some of the best bars and eateries in Rome! On Sunday's we don't go inside the Pantheon, it is closed!

Polly was an amazing guide and knows so many things about Rome, its monuments and history. She gave us a real insight not only in places and buildings we already knew but showed us things and told us stories about places we wouldn’t have discovered without her. This wasn’t a common touristic tour but rather felt as if a friend would guide you to her city and tell you all of the beauties and secrets it holds. My boyfriend and I loved the tour and we highly recommend it if you want to see Rome from a different and even more interesting point of view. Grazie mille Polly

Colin gave me a Colosseum tour and then suggested that he was running a city walking tour at 17:30 and I could book it through guru walks. What a guide! First the Colosseum and now this tour, he is amazing! He made my trip to Rome really special

I had an amazing walking tour with Colin – his is brilliant. Super knowledgeable, I learnt so much about Rome that I wouldn’t have known. The tour was done at a slow pace so everyone in the group was able to really enjoy the spots and given photo opportunities, nothing ever felt rushed like some other tours I have been on. I wish I could have had Colin on every tour in Rome!

What a great tour! It was a fascinating experience walking around a near empty Rome when the roads would usually be heaving. Colin was incredibly knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions with great detail. At the end of the tour he recommended a lovely bar and he shared more stories of Rome with us over a Peroni. Before coming to Rome I was worried about the Covid situation but this tour makes it all worth it. If anyone is considering it, DO IT!
