Hello, my name is Andreas: I was born and grew up in Kassel - with Ahler Worscht, Herkules and documenta. I am a happy, communicative and inquisitive Kasselaner who likes to be outside. What's in it for you guys? A special point of view. Why? First: I've been living in Kassel for 34 years, so I can tell you exactly what life is like in Kassel :-) Second: I have specialist knowledge of architecture, am interested in history and art and, as an enthusiastic runner, I almost know it every corner of the city. I look forward to bringing you closer to our city :-)
What does "Herkules" have to do with Kassel? How do you eat Ahle Worscht correctly? Where do people from Kassel spend their free time? And why is a man standing on the church tower in all weather? On our memorable walk in and around the Kassel core city, we experience numerous aha moments. Together we discover historical places like the former city wall. We learn to follow in the footsteps of the Brothers Grimm, let ourselves be inspired by the numerous documents works of art, and enjoy the view over the panorama of the north Hessian fairytale landscape. We start our tour at the feet of the Brothers Grimm with a view of the Hercules and Bergpark. Then we follow in the footsteps of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm to the picturesque vineyard terraces. Here we enjoy the first panoramic view of the east and south of the city. Past the "antique" breakfast temple, it goes to Friedrichsplatz. Here we learn something about the city's history with a view of the Fridericianum and the Ottoneum. With the vertical earth kilometer, we will get to know a famous work of art of the documentary. On the colorful rose slope, we enjoy the unobstructed view of the green Kassel area, the Karlsaue city park, and the orangery. Past the state theater and the documental hall, it goes above the Fulda to the old city wall. Our next stop is the historic market hall. Here we try North Hessian specialties. Past the remains of the historic old town, the Druselturm, and the Garrison Church, we dive into modern Kassel: Via Friedrichsplatz we discover Germany's first pedestrian zone: stairs street. Past the "little Hercules" and the "linear clock" our tour ends in front of the historic town hall.
