Hello my name is Fran! I came to Barcelona as a tourist, I fell in love with their streets and I've never left. I was born in Argentina, so I keep the Latin spark, but I lived my first years inside the Gothic Quarter, so I know the city as if it were my own home.
Catalan modernism was an artistic process that was born thanks to the Cerdá project in 1860 and it is said that it ended with the death of Gaudí in 1926. This movement was looking to the future, as a contrast to the predecessor movement called "classic" that this was vindictive of the Greco-Roman culture. Modernism, aesthetically, was astonishing, but behind this beauty was a Barcelona's high bourgeoisie that had enriched itself at the cost of textile labor exploitation and the sale of slaves from the city's port during the beginning of the 19th century. POINTS WE WILL SEE - Catalonian square - Paseo de Gracia - Gran Vía - Old College of Accountants - Palau Malagrida - Casa Lleó i Morera House - Amatller House - Batlló House - Mila House - Facade of the Christmas Sagrada Familia - Facade of the Glory Sagrada Familia - Facade of the Passion Sagrada Familia EXTRA POINTS TO SEE - Modernist benchs - El Nacional - Fuster House - House of Les Punxes - Diagonal Gaudí - Hospital Sant Pau Modernism was an architectural movement that completely changed the history of the city, and I would like to share with you my point of view about it.
