Introduction of Spit Of Vasilievsky Island: The Vasilievsky Island is situated between the two main rivers of Saint Petersburg called Bolshaya Neva and the Malaya Neva. The Vasilievsky Island also includes in it the Dekabristov Island which is separated by the river called Smolenka and smaller islets. The Vasilyevsky island is divided in two parts. The Northwestern part where there are residential quarters from soviet era and the Eastern part, which is very rich in landmarks and most beautiful in Saint Petersburg.
Highlights:
1.Rostral Columns: The Rostral Columns are symbols of the city. Constructed to celebrate the victory of the Russian Baltic Fleet over the Swedish navy, the columns are each adorned with six rostra symbolizing the might of the Russian Baltic Fleet.
2.The Stock Exchange Building: The stock exchange building in Saint Petersburg is the former location of the city's stock exchange and one of the main buildings in an architectural complex on the spit of Vasilievsky Island.
3.Universitetskaya Embankment: A 1.2 km long embankment on the right bank of the Bolshaya Neva and spans between Palace Bridge and Blagoveshchensky Bridge.
4. 12 colleges buildings (1722 - 1742): The three-storey, red-brick complex of 12 buildings is 400–440 meters long and it gives an illusion of one enormous edifice.
5.The Kunstkamera (1718 - 1734): The Kunstkamera is the first museum in Russia which was established by Peter the Great
6.The Menshikov Palace: The Menshikov palace was founded in 1710 as a residence of Saint Petersburg Governor General Alexander Menshikov and It was the first stone building in the city.
7.Academy of Sciences: Russian academy of sciences is a network of scientific research institutes from across the Russian Federation; and additional scientific and social units such as libraries, publishing units, and hospitals.
8.Academy of Arts Palace: Academy of Arts, was founded in 1757 by the founder of the Imperial Moscow University Ivan Shuvalov.
9.Zoological Museum: Zoological museum of Saint Petersburg is one of the ten largest nature history museums in the world.
10.Sphinxes Pharaoh Amenhotep III: A quay in front of the Imperial Academy of Arts building, adorned with two authentic sphinxes of Pharaoh Amenhotep III brought in 1832 from Thebes, Egypt, was designed by Konstantin Thon.
11.Palace Bridge: A 260.1 metres long road and foot-traffic bascule bridge which spans the Neva River between Palace Square and Vasilievsky Island was built by the French firm Société de Construction des Batignolles between 1912 and 1916.
12.Admiralty: The Admiralty is one St. Petersburg's oldest and most important buildings, opposite the Winter Palace. Enjoy the amazing view from the embankment.
13.Winter Palace: Another amazing view from Palace bridge is of Winter Palace which is one of the most beautiful buildings in Saint Petersburg.
14.Peter and Paul Fortress: The first structure to be built in St. Petersburg, and thus the birthplace of the city. Wonderful view from the Palace bridge.
