I recently had the pleasure of joining the free walking tour in Edinburgh guided by the charismatic Callum and his adorable canine companion, Rowie. This tour turned out to be an exceptional way to explore the captivating city, uncovering its major sights and hidden gems. From the moment the tour began, it was evident that Callum's storytelling prowess was a standout feature. He skillfully wove historical anecdotes and fascinating legends into each stop, bringing the city's history to life in an engaging and entertaining manner. His depth of knowledge about Edinburgh's past and present was truly impressive, making the experience both educational and entertaining. One of the highlights of the tour was the inclusion of all the major sights Edinburgh has to offer. Callum seamlessly led us through the cobbled streets, taking us to iconic landmarks. His vivid descriptions painted a vivid picture of the city's rich heritage, leaving us in awe of its beauty and significance. What made this tour even more memorable was Callum's delightful dog, Rowie. Rowie's presence added a unique charm to the experience, and her friendly interactions with the participants created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see how Callum's love for Rowie extended to his storytelling, as he shared stories about the dog's own adventures in Edinburgh. As an unexpected and delightful twist, Callum surprised us by breaking out into song during the tour. His melodic voice filled the air, enhancing the already enchanting ambiance of the historic surroundings. This unexpected musical interlude added an extra layer of enjoyment, making the tour feel like a true cultural immersion.

The best of Edinburgh's amazing Old Town (TIP BASED)

Best things to do and see in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of the most important cities in Scotland, acting as the country's capital as the main reference in terms of politics and economics. The most prominent element of the city is the medieval old town that contrasts with the new town with Georgian gardens as well as buildings with a neoclassical architecture. In addition to all the cultural and historical set that this city offers, it is also worth trying the local cuisine while making a stop on your tour of the center of the Scottish capital.

One of the most important points of interest is the Edinburgh Castle where you can see the Scottish Crown Jewels, as well as the Stone of Destiny that was used for the coronation of the country's rulers and is still in use during the coronation of the British monarchs. During your trip you should not miss Arthur's Seat, which is located in the Holyrood Park and Palace beside the Royal Palace with views over the city. Calton Hill has several monuments and memorials at the top of the hill. If you do not want to be lost when you arrive in Edinburgh, we recommend that you do a free walking tour with an official local guide who will accompany you through the essential places, in addition to telling you about the history and information of interest of each monument and building. Travellers who do so are very grateful for all the recommendations they receive, as they also give advice on where to eat, places to buy souvenirs or neighbourhoods that are worth visiting in addition to the historic center.

In the free tours in Edinburgh you can find other travelers from different parts of the world, enriching your experience. Other important places you should not miss are the Museum of Scotland, Princes Street, the Cathedral, Mary King's Close, Scott Monument, HMY Britannia, the Royal Botanic Garden, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, The Scotch Whiskey Experience, National Gallery of Scotland, Rosslyn Chapel or pass over the Forth Bridge. If you still want to know new cities, in London, Cork or Glasgow you will also find guided tours with the best local gurus.
