About the Tour

It is a journey through the years and the protagonists who fought for a freer and fairer city and society. It starts at Rembrandt Square and we pass through some of the most beautiful places in the city, such as the 'seven bridges ', the Heineken building, the museum square or the most emblematic park: Voldenpark ; where the tour ends and you can rest and plan your next step quietly.

On the tour we will talk about:

  • The Provos: a movement that shook traditional and conservative Dutch society with its proposals.
  • Las Dolle Mina: feminist movement in the Netherlands in the 1970s
  • The pioneering Dutch prison system: how it is possible that the Netherlands has closed almost half of its prisons
  • Sexual revolution in Amsterdam: the paradigm shift and the beginning of sexual freedom, the emancipation of women, the emergence of the gay movement and the legalization of prostitution
  • How Amsterdam has managed to be the most cycling city in the world
  • And, of course, the mysterious policy of soft drugs in the Netherlands. Do not tell you gossip, know the real situation of the famous Coffeeshops .
