Stuck in the old town? The old town of Istanbul is spectacular but this fantastic city offers more. We invite you to explore the local life of this vibrant metropolis on two continents.
We will start our tour in Karaköy facing the old town. We will explore this multi-ethnic neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul. See its historical buildings, trendy cafes and have a look at the world’s second oldest and shortest metro.
Then we will take the public ferry to the Asian side, Kadıköy. You will enjoy lovely views and the amazing skyline of the old town.
On arrival to Kadıköy, we will explore the most popular neighbourhood of the Asian side where many locals meet, shop, and hang out with their friends. You will see the real local life. Discovering the lively market area of Kadıköy is an exciting experience because of the famous eateries, vegetable, fruit, and fish markets, sweet and deli shops as well as bars, pubs, and meyhanes. We will end up our tour in Kadıköy so that you can taste the local cuisine after the tour, like a local.
This is not a food tour but especially in the Kadıköy market area, we will be talking about the local life through eating and drinking culture in Turkey.

*Please note that; this is a pay-as-you-want walking tour but there is a cost of a ferry which is 25 Turkish Liras for a return ticket between Karaköy and Kadıköy.
*RESERVATION IS REQUIRED because we have a limited space in our tours for a better experience.
The tour is only in ENGLISH.
Our tours are conducted by professional and licensed tour guides, and it's totally free to book and join the group. Considering that these tours are our guide's full time job to make a living and it will be a moderate-sized group for your comfort, we recommend rewarding the guide minimum 10 € \ 10 $ \ 200 Turkish Liras per person for her\his job.

Excellent tour of Katakoy and Kadikoy taking you to places you wouldn’t see if you hadn’t joined the tour. Cagaty (apologies if the name is wrong) was extremely knowledgable and told us loads of interesting facts. Would definitely recommend.
The only regret we have is that we took this tour so late into our trip. Our guide was knowledgable, entertaining, interesting. He showed us really unexpected places and kept a good level details - enough to learn and not to be overwhelmed. He seemed to enjoy the city by himself. He was able to answer all our questions, even completely random. We had a lot of fun!
It was our first Guru walk and did not know what to expect We had a great time and learned lot. Very nice to see the asian side aswell and relax during the ferry ride. I can recommand this tour and we already booked our next Guru walk in Ephesus.
