Hi, my name is István! I was born and raised in Hungary and I am happy to call Budapest my home for over 10 years now. I have a huge love for this city and I would like to show you why! This tour is a great way to learn about Hungarian culture and discover Budapest’s colourful history—from the founding of the Hungarian state, through the Ottoman occupation and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, all the way to the 21st century.

I present the city through stories and fun facts, not dry dates, and I love going off the beaten track to show you lesser-known places with fascinating stories behind them.

What makes this tour special?

As a professional musician, I also share music-related stories from Hungarian history and introduce you to the artistic side of the city, including great places and venues to listen to (and sometimes play!) live music 🎶

The tour is also interactive and engaging: along the way, I include fun trivia questions, encourage active participation and good answer won’t go unrewarded! 😉

Along the way, I’ll talk about the do’s and don’ts in Budapest, and I’ll happily recommend where—and what—to eat and drink like a local 🍷🍲

At the end of the tour, I’ll give you my own personal list of recommendations, so you can make the most of your time in Budapest even after the walk.

Our first stop! We will have a little introduction and then we will get right into the middle of early Hungarian history and the secrets of the Basilica.
