The artistic heritage that was lost during the Civil War . Discover everything that was destroyed in Madrid .
Itinerary:
We will start the tour at the Prado Museum , home to the most important painting collection in the world. What happened to the works that were exhibited inside? Did it get into good hands? Was it re-exposed as it was known?
We will continue the tour until we reach the Palacio del Marqués de Torrecilla , current Ministry of Finance and Public Function. Located on Calle Alcalá, near the ground floor where the headquarters of the defense council was located, can you imagine how the building could finish?
During the walk we will leave behind such characteristic monuments of Madrid such as the Neptune Fountain , which together with the Cibeles Fountain and the Puerta de Alcalá , were covered to protect them from air attacks. Did they manage to survive the attack?
Next, we will arrive at the Cuartel de la Montaña , current Temple of Debod , where a battle was waged that killed 200 people in just a few hours. From this mountain we will enjoy the views that Madrid offers us and we will immerse ourselves a little more in the battles that were fought to conquer the capital.
We will finish the visit at the Palacio de Liria , one of the private palaces that houses one of the most important art collections in the world.
Other stops that we will make within the tour will be:
I will be at the main door of the Prado Museum, next to the statue of Velázquez. I will bring a red umbrella.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
