The Real Villa de San Miguel de Teguise is an essential place to visit if you come to Lanzarote.
In this tour I will show you the main corners of the Villa de Teguise, the old capital of the island.
"La Villa" (as we Lanzarote people call it) was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of historical complex in 1981 and has just been incorporated into the network of "most beautiful villages in Spain", a benchmark of prestige and quality at national and international (it is based on the French model of "les plus beaux villages de France"), which already has 104 locations throughout Spain.
Teguise is one of the oldest and best preserved cities in the entire Canary Islands , founded at the dawn of the conquest and colonization of the Canary Islands, an authentic historical document. In addition, it constitutes an excellent sample of typically Canarian popular, military and religious architectural typologies , highlighting the famous "Byzantine" chimneys of Lanzarote and stately mansions.
