Communism Free Tour in Bucharest

Duration: 2h and 30min
Languages: English, Spanish
Quality Verified Registered on May 21, 2018

Unbelievable Bucharest started as a family business, as we wanted to share our passion for the city, being born and raised here: an aunt and a nephew. Since then, a lot more guides joined us, all of them with the same love for the city. We like to tell stories, jokes, history, traditions and never forget that our tourists are actually our extended family!

Tour description

Everything you want to know about Romanian communism in a free paid tour.
Almost 50 years of communism impacted Romania as a country and the lives of its people. Our habits are still influenced by the communist heritage and you will clearly understand why after this Free Tour.
Learn about the communist regime and its top leader Ceausescu , how he came to power, and how he was ultimately executed for crimes against his people.
Bucharest of all cities was badly affected by Ceausescu's decisions and his crazy dream of destroying the old city and building a new communist one, which also includes the huge Parliament building. You will have the opportunity to stop at a place where there was an entire neighborhood, totally demolished at the request of the glorious leader.
The tour will also take you through all the struggles of the Romanian people , from the lack of basic food, the heat, the lack of privacy and the fear of doing something more than what the Party wanted.
