Itinerary

This trip to the past of La Gomera has its first stop at the Torre del Conde. With its 15 meters high , this tower was built with many others, during the conquest of the Canary Islands. Today it is only standing, value that earned it the declaration of Asset of Cultural Interest in 1993. Not only did it have a defensive sense, Beatriz de Bobadilla took refuge here, after her husband Hernán Peraza fell dead in the so-called Rebellion of the Gomeros, which occurred on the island in 1488. What is the Gomeran whistle? Do you know? It is a way of communicating through the ravines in a very peculiar way, by whistling. The story says that the death of this conqueror was transmitted to all corners of the island by whistling.

The Plaza de las Américas , our next destination, is the perfect place to get closer to the gastronomy of La Gomera. Wrinkled potatoes, almogrote, watercress stew, mojo, escaldón de gofio... In the bars and restaurants that surround this square, we will find offers and proposals for all tastes. This is also one of the busiest spaces and a meeting place for Gomerans, as markets, festivals and events on the island are held here. Here we will approach the reality of the festivals of La Gomera, very close to its folklore, and known throughout the archipelago.

Through the historic center of San Sebastián we are going to stop at one of the most transcendental chapters in history, that of the discoveries.
Christopher Columbus is the undisputed protagonist
of this. On the island he remembers him with a statue and a bust , works by Cinthia Machín and Pedro de la Rosa, respectively, and in the well-known Pozo de la Aguada, an exhibition of his travels is shown. This old colonial house was originally a well -the only drinking water well on the island- and it was also the Customs House, where the entry and exit of goods and people was controlled. It has a very curious history because there is also speculation with the theory that it was the prison of the island, why? Because this well was sometimes called Plazuela de la Cárcel.

Walking through its colorful streets, we will arrive at the Church of the Assumption, one of the most touristic points of La Gomera.

Among these stops, and some others, we cannot forget the reference to the Garajonay National Park , for those of you who are nature lovers, this is one of the best routes to do in La Gomera, and one of the great treasures of the island.

If you want to know not only the most important things about La Gomera, but also its legends and secrets, don't miss this free tour on your next vacation . Hurry to reserve your places!
