Itinerary:
We will meet at the Plaza España in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to begin a very special free tour. Are you ready?
We will first talk about the origins of this square and we will contemplate the historical buildings and monuments that surround it. We will see the Insular Palace, seat of the Cabildo de Tenerife , the Royal Casino and the obelisk in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria, the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands .
Later, we will descend to the underground of Plaza España to see the remains of the castle of San Cristóbal . We will travel back to the 16th century to discover how Tenerife defended itself against looting by pirates and other invaders. It will surprise you!
We will walk the streets towards the Church of San Francisco de Asís, the second most important parish in the city . After admiring its façade, we will go to the Príncipe de Asturias square . Nearby are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Círculo de Amistad XII de Enero , two emblematic buildings of the chicharrera capital.
We will continue walking towards the Market of Our Lady of Africa and you will have time to visit it.
The last stop on the free tour of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be at the Iglesia de la Concepción, one of the oldest Catholic churches in Tenerife . Do you want to know its history?
We will say goodbye at this point and you will be free to continue enjoying the city.
