Commune 13 - Entrepreneurship Free Walking Tour

Duration: 3h

I'm currently a certified Tour Guide focused on researching Sustainable Urban Tourism. It consists of collective work between tourists, local people and of course the tour guide. I'm actually executing a project related as a tourist proposal that involves the community and tourists into an experience of horizontal exchange around the environment, urban history, local culture and heritage. My background as Executive Chef has taught me to research work resources, BPA standards, existing inventories, how to identify people's profiles, what do they expect about an unforgetable service experience, develop solutions and later on find out a niche market. I'm fortunately ready to compete in an entrepreneur work team that places the user experience on its main goal.

Tour description

Hello ladies and gentlemen! It's a pleasure for me to serve you as your travel partner/tour guide and take you under an urban experience below the context of the social transformation of Comuna 13.

Medellin has been flourishing its economy worldwide since the early 1,960´s, according to this fact more than 1,500 families settled "illegally" at Comuna 13 and founded a residential area; a place located by that time in the countryside along the west mountains that surrounds our valley called Aburrá.
Therefore this exodus brought illegal military groups that took control over the settlement's sales and were involved in smuggling and trafficking drugs to become Comuna 13 the most dangerous suburb in the world before 2,002.

According to this context I'll explain you the process of 2 important military operations called "Mariscal" and "Orion" , that killed lots of innocent people, brought back peace to the community, and rise it up into an entrepreneur society .

Comuna 13 has been one of the most visited destinations in Colombia and shows up culture, art painted in graffiti, and street live performance dances. I'll tell you about its meanings and lots of issues you'll discover in this interesting experience.

Join me into this wonderful tour, you'll have access to enjoy the best electric escalators in the world in order to sightsee art galleries, a coffee museum and 2 viewpoints to  watch the landscape along the valley and catch up some pictures as memories.

We'll have 4 important stops where I will tell you the origin / conflict, and live the social transformation process of Comuna 13.
