About the Tour

Get a break from the Roman heat and join me for a complete and in-depth evening tour of the incredible Jewish Ghetto neighborhood in Rome. We will begin our walk at the base of the steps to the Capitoline Hill. From here we will take a look at the impact of Ancient Rome on the Jewish Community and how it grew and changed over 2000 years of history.

We will see sites such as:

  • Theater of Marcellus
  • Portico d'Ottavia
  • Via dei Funari
  • Turtle Fountain
  • Piazza Mattei
  • Piazza delle Cinque Scole
  • The Great Synagogue
  • Tiber Island

We will learn about the impact of history and religion in the Jewish community that was settled in this neighborhood since the 2nd century BC, as well as the struggles they faced and how they overcame them throughout the centuries.

I will show you the main sites and answer all of your questions as we go through the cobblestone streets and I share with you the stories associated with neighborhood. We will also walk down the main street in the ghetto to smell the delicious culinary traditions that waft through the streets as I tell you all of the best places to get traditional Roman Kosher food like Carciofi alle Giudia and mouth watering Oxtail Ragu.

The tour will end on the Tiber Island, home of one of Rome's oldest hospitals as well as the oldest, functioning bridge, where I will answer all of your questions and make sure you have the best vacation in Rome.
