Hello! Hola! Salut! I am Gabriela and I will take you on a fun trip to uncover Bucharest's history, its landmarks, traditions, food, drinks and best Romanian jokes. I've lived in comunist and post comunist România, studied in Spain, worked in the USA as a Spanish Teacher and now I am working as a tour guide in Bucharest. Wouldn't you like to find out about our tradition to steal the bride during the wedding and how we celebrate the coming of spring exchanging little jewels called marțisoare? And why Bucharest is called the City of Joy because the legend says it was founded by a sheppard called Bucur, meaning joy in Romanian. Make your stay in Bucharest full of fun and joy!
Discover Bucharest's history, what to visit and the best places to eat and drink! Have fun looking for clues all around you, playing games, tasting Romanian sweets and learning some Romanian expressions!
Along the way you will also see:
Find out why Ceausescu built the second largest building in the world, why Dracula's castle is in Transylvania and why our national car is called Dacia!
I will be in front of the Romanian Atheneum holding a red umbrella
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
