Hi, I’m Richard, I have been a tour guide in London for nearly 20 years and still find something new in this amazing city almost every day. I have a real passion for travel and have been fortunate to have visited fascinating destinations on 5 different continents and aim to visit 50 countries by my 50th Birthday, I am already over halfway there. However, many wonderful places I have visited something always draws me back to London like a magnet. It’s a unique blend of history and tradition whilst remaining a thoroughly modern vibrant city on the cutting edge of everything new and exciting that there is to offer. I am massively passionate about London and Londoners and hope that my tours can ignite the same in the visitors that I have the pleasure of showing MY City.
WESTMINSTER- A name that conveys political and religious power, of suited civil servants and the Church of England hierarchy going about their daily business. of Royal Weddings and Coronations and political drama of meetings in smoke filled rooms of great celebrations and national remembrance. But it’s way more than that…
It’s a living breathing constantly evolving city home to over a quarter of a million people, but recognised by the entire World. It’s home to some of London and The World's most iconic and important buildings and landmarks that have shaped history not only in the UK but in all corners of the globe for over a millennium.
Most people will quite rightly immediately think of the 11th Century Westminster Abbey or the planets most famous clock “Big Ben” but Westminster stretches its tentacles over nearly 8.5 square miles including much of the West End, Large swathes of Royal Parks and even Buckingham Palace itself.
On this FREE (Pay what you like) tour I will take you beyond the usual tourist hot spots and delve a little deeper into some of the lesser known areas and sights of Westminster as well as the big hitters to try and give a sense of this places wider impact and it’s place in modern day London.
A perfect tour to introduce yourself to Westminster and orientation of the city, or if your short of time a great way to tick off many of the main sites from your list or to find things you may wish to explore in detail later.
PLUS! this tour will also take you to the Changing of The Horseguards to see the mounted regiments of The Household Cavalry carry out their daily guard change and inspection (AM tour) Or the daily “punishment ceremony” (don’t worry there is not any actual punishment) (PM Tour)
