Duration: 1h and 45min
Languages: English
Quality Verified Registered on June 19, 2022

Hallo daar! We are Martin, Dominique & Jasmijn. We are best friends & all 3 locals of Amsterdam. During our studies we worked at the Heineken Museum as Tour Guides. Now, we work full-time, but in our spare time we love to go outside & enjoy the beautiful city of Amsterdam. Doing so, we have 2 passions: one is the history of Amsterdam and one is sharing this with guests in the city. In this way, we love to show Amsterdam from a true local perspective. Being 3 Tour Guides (independent from any company) with a huge passion for their own city, we are happy to show you around in Amsterdam! We all hold our own license to guide groups around Amsterdam! Enough about us... Let us take YOU on an unforgettable walking tour through our beloved city & we are sure you will see Amsterdam from a different perspective !! ❌❌❌

Tour description

❌❌❌

Why is Amsterdam called Amsterdam? How did a city like this develop in an area that was nothing but grassy sandland back in the 13th century? What is the city's weapon for with the 3 XXXs? What are the 3 most important districts of the centre? How did the Dutch become famous with trade and what role did the VOC play in this?

How’s life here nowadays? Why are there so many bicycles all around you? What to order in a true Amsterdam-bar? 😉

We will give you all the answers during the walking tour!

We will let you experience A'dam in a unique perspective: WITH but at the same time LIKE a local, as a true “Amsterdammer”.

As our hometown for our entire life, we will take you through all the highlights of the nicest capital in the world. More importantly, we will take you through the alleys and backstreets that mainstream tourism does not go. See it as a mix between history and daily life.

ps. Of course, you get a list of personal Amsterdam recommendations from us. Composed by ourselves and our friends. Through the eyes of a local: the best bars, restaurants, museums, things to do etc etc.

pps. We’ve got the A'dam tour guide license and this is max. 15 persons. Please do not bring more ppl than booked, without asking : ))

The tour will cover the areas of:

- the medieval city centre created between 1200-1500

- the historical highlights on Dam Square (Palace, New Church, WWII National Monument & others)

- the canal ring (Unesco World heritage since 2010) and the story behind this astonishing 17th century’s neighborhood.

- the vibrant Jordaan district. Formerly labour class neighborhood transformed into one of the coolest places around the city.

- the Red Light District

- Amsterdam's first streets

- Anne Frank House

- Western Church

- Nieuwmarkt square

See you on our tour!

Dominique took us on a tour around Amsterdam. We visited lots of historical locations and visited parts of the city we probably wouldn't have seen. Dominique's information was comprehensive and delivered with a great sense of humor. We had two people in our group celebrating birthdays and Dominique was kind enough to give them both a local gift. We all enjoyed the tour thoroughly and highly recommend it. Thank you Dominique.

Diese Tour war eine gute Wahl mit ausreichend erstem Input in geschichtliche und aktuelle Aspekte der Stadt. Dominique hat alle Fragen gut beantwortet und war sehr interessiert an den Teilnehmenden.
