Tour description

This tour of mine covers Old Quarter district. We start the tour by visiting one of the dervish lodges of old city which is used today as an Islamic Cultural Info Center. From the beginning of the Ottoman Era in Constantinople, this old quarter area has been a religious education center. We pay visits some of these madrassas and if we are lucky we are able to witness an Arabic Calligrapher's short perfomance. In old quarter we visit a cemetery and we talk about culture and hereafter understanding through the gravestones. We finish the tour by turning around the Bayezid part of the old quarter where we have today main campus of Istanbul University which used to be a first Ottoman Palace before the Topkapı Palace.

The visiting points that we have in our heart,

  • Caferaga Dervish Lodge
  • Ottoman Mansions at Sogukcesme Street
  • Tombs of 8 Ottoman Sultans
  • Blue Mosque Square
  • Cemetery of Sultan Abdulhamid
  • Sinanpasha Ottoman Madrassa
