At VIENTO Castellón we are specialists in making known a great unknown, the city of Castelló and El Grao, its maritime neighborhood. We like to go further when it comes to telling the history and stories behind each of the corners of our city. Come meet us. Come and see Castellón.
Who inhabited this city in the Middle Ages ? Where does the name of Castelló come from? Who was the Conqueror of these lands? Was the City always in the place we know it today?
Come with us and get answers to these and many other questions about the origins of Castelló de La Plana and its inhabitants on a journey through time from our days to Medieval Castelló.
Itinerary
We will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Plaza Mayor of Castelló, next to the door of the Co-Cathedral. There we will begin our journey back in time to the Origins of the City of Castelló .
From the 13th century gate of Santa Maria we will know what that First Castelló was like on a daily basis, in the city of the Three Cultures .
We will go first to the Jewish quarter, where it was not possible to access without the express permission of the King , there we will learn about the Hebrew culture, what was their diet, their holy days, their trades and how they related to the rest of the communities walking through their intricate streets; passing by the most famous Well of the Middle Ages , which was the Jewish Oven or its holy place, the Synagogue.
Walking quietly we will enter the Morería , to get closer to the life and customs of the Mudejar community, so closely linked to the Reconquest and the authentic Masters of Water .
And finally we will go through the Christian suburbs, where we will visit what was the first Christian oven that has lasted until today, the very Tower of San Pedro , the Hospital for the Poor and we will go through the intricate Guild Streets until we reach the Alley of Ecce Homo and discover the mysteries it houses.
Finishing this journey in time in the same place where we started, the Co-Cathedral of Santa María , this time, in the Original Door of the 14th century , where we will tell you stories of the first Butchers and how they sharpened their Knives
We wait for you next to the main door of the Co-Cathedral of Santa María, at the indicated time, in the Plaza Mayor.
