Discover the sanctuary city! Cholula, a living heritage.
Tour description
Discover with me the history of the city of Cholula, located in the central-western part of the state of Puebla, just 30 minutes from the city center. It was founded in 500 BC, making it one of the oldest living settlements in the Americas.
In this Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town), the great symbols of two cultures coexist just a few meters away: the Great Pyramid of Tlalchihualtepetl and the former Franciscan convent of San Gabriel, one of the oldest convents in the Americas. The Lienzo Quauhquechollan, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is included in the Regional Register of the Memory of the World Program. Many more attractions and activities await you in the city.
We'll start at Plaza de la Concordia, then visit the former convent of San Gabriel, its ancient trees, and the indigenous chapel. We'll walk through its colonial streets. We'll see the Pyramid and climb the hill to the shrine of Our Lady of Remedies to observe the landscape from there. Finally, we'll conclude the tour by descending the hill.
