Early Morning Walk in Osaka's World Heritage Kofun Park
Start your day right way — exploring one of Japan's most underrated cities before the crowds arrive.
Sakai is home to the largest burial mound in the world: the Daisen Kofun (Nintoku-tenno-ryo), a UNESCO World Heritage Site so massive it can only be fully appreciated from the air.
In 90 minutes, we'll take a relaxed walk through Daisen Park, taking in the sights from the outside — no entry fees, no queues, just fresh air.
Here's what we'll see together:
- Iroha Café — a beloved local spot (exterior introduction — it's too early to go in, but you can come back for breakfast)
- Sakai City Museum — exterior view (opens at 9:30 AM — perfect for after the tour)
- Tea house, Japanese Garden & Peace Tower — a quiet corner of Daisen Park that most visitors walk straight past
- Nanakanzan Kofun — a small keyhole-shaped tomb you can actually get close to
- Richu-tenno-ryo viewpoint (north side) — the best ground-level panoramic view.
- Daisen Monument — a photo stop with the scale of the tomb brought to life
- Hot-air balloon launch site
- IKOROBA — Sakai's landmark visitor hub
- Visitor Information Center — our only indoor stop, timed perfectly for its 9 AM opening. Pick up maps, browse souvenirs, and get tips on what to do next.
- Daisen Kofun (Nintoku-tenno-ryo) — we end here, at the tomb itself. No explanation needed. Just stand and take it in.
No rushing. No entry fees. Just a peaceful morning walk.
After the tour, the morning is yours !
