Laguna de Mamo located in the Independencia Municipality in the Anzoategui State, the third largest in Venezuela, has an area of 20,170 hectares. The lagoon is of great importance because of the diversity and abundance of resources
fish, besides being the base for the maintenance of the fishing production along the Orinoco river, since we find more than 900 fish species and they are the main spawning and nursery areas of the species of commercial interest, such as: cachama, palometas, morocoto, guabinas, boca chico, coporo, sapuara, and the catfish: cajaro, striped, pavones, and horse face.
