Start your day with pickup in Reykjavík and travel through the UNESCO-listed Reykjanes Geopark, known for its dramatic scenery and active geology.
Your first stop is the Seltún Geothermal Area, where you’ll walk along wooden pathways through a landscape of steaming vents, bubbling mud pools, and colorful mineral deposits. Experience Iceland’s geothermal activity up close in a safe and accessible setting.
Continue to Fagradalsfjall Volcano, one of Iceland’s most recent eruption sites. Enjoy a guided 5.5 km (3.4 mi) round-trip hike to a viewpoint overlooking newly formed lava fields. The hike includes approximately 300 meters (985 ft) of elevation gain and is considered moderately challenging. Along the way, your guide will share insights into Iceland’s volcanic history and the recent eruptions that shaped the area.
After the hike, visit the coastal town of Grindavík, where locals have adapted to living in a volcanic region. Learn about the impact of recent geological activity and stop for lunch, with the option to purchase fresh Icelandic fish and chips.
