Inspired by the cartoon, the musical show premiered in 1999 and has run for many seasons, with nearly 120 million people having seen it worldwide. A full-scale show, it has been running at the Théâtre Mogador since 2021 and delights thousands of spectators. While the story remains identical to that of the original animated feature, Simba's reconquest of the land of the lions usurped by his uncle Scar, its director, Julie Taymor, has enriched it with all her inspirations, folk costumes, and traditional arts from Africa, Asia, and elsewhere, to make it a complete show. Each costume, each accessory, each puppet has been designed to create surprise and take you on a breath-taking journey where humor competes with the dramatic tension of certain scenes. Come and meet your heroes Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Rafiki, Zazu, Timon, Pumba, Scar, and of course the hyenas, in the African savanna. Whether you are a long-time fan or discovering its magic for the first time, you will not forget this show like no other.
