Hakan is a very pleasant gentleman, fluent in both English and Deutsch. We were fortunate to have a private tour with him. We recognized from our planning that Ankara has far fewer tourist attractions and sites than Istanbul which we've visited a couple of times, so we had a proper mindset and expectations. Although the major attractions like the Castle, the surrounding district, and Museum of Anatolian Civilizations were interesting and much more enjoyable with a guide, the highlight for us was the Haci Bayram Mosque. We were there mid-day on a Friday afternoon which is the most popular day and time for prayers. The antiquity of this mosque sharing a wall marked by the Galatians, Hittites and Romans was quite something to see. We wanted to stay and experience as much as we could, so we stopped for lunch at an authentic doner restaurant highly recommended by Hakan and nearest the entrance to the mosque. To be honest, we probably would have walked by this place thinking it too touristic but it was superb! We ate outside and were able to witness the energy and many people gathered for prayer. We were also able to hear the Imam and Hakan graciously interpreted some of the sermon and prayers for us. This was a highlight as we respect all religions and it's a rare opportunity to be so close to such an ancient ritual. The mosque itself was amazing and we were able to walk inside before the prayers --- even me as a woman! A kind old man gave me a scarf to cover my head as I was wearing pants and long sleeves. When we left, I tried to return it but he insisted I keep it. (Note: if you are to visit a mosque as a woman, bring a head scarf and cover your body appropriately...respectfully.) After lunch, our tour was officially over but we opted to walk rather than take a cab downtown and as it turns out, Hakan was headed in the same direction. Our tour continued! He explained the various buildings, their current function and history, we stopped at the postal stamp museum where my husband scored buying stamps. It was free and actually very interesting. While Ankara is a modern secular city, there is so much rich history in all of Turkey. Hakan surely helped us understand and learn much more. Also, Hakan being fluent in both English and German (and of course Turkish!) was able to explain to my husband in Deutsch (his first language) when he stumbled in English. We had such a lovely day with Hakan. He is knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating. I can't recall a single question we asked that he couldn't answer. We highly recommend a tour with Hakan here in Ankara and he also conducts tours in Cappadocia so we look forward to seeing him again!
Very good person and guide
Una visita fascinante de Ankara con Ahmet. Nos hizo vivir ANKARA y su cultura a flor de piel.
Caminata muy dinámica e interesante con interesantes experiencias de la vida cotidiana de Ankara.
Enjoyed time with Aise, she is very attentive, kind and friendly person. As there were no other people on the tour she agreed to to make a private tour only for me and in English ( she normally has tours in German), highly recommended and appreciated. Thanks
Musa was very friendly and gave us great recommendations!
Musa‘s tour was extremely interesting. He is very communicative and knowledgeable as a tour guide. Highly recommended!
I had the pleasure of visiting Ankara with my aunt recently and having Musa as our tour guide was the best decision, he knows the city and its history, very knowledgeable. Took us to visit beautiful museums and important landmarks. Musa is very friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommend musa if you are visiting Ankara.
Excelente tour para conocer Ankara. Datos muy relevantes de la historia de Ankara y Turquía.
I had the pleasure of having Musa as my tour guide in Ankara, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. His English is excellent, and his deep knowledge of the city’s history and culture truly enriched the experience. Musa took my niece and me to some of the most beautiful and historically significant sites in Ankara, providing fascinating insights along the way. He also introduced us to some of the best local cuisine, making sure we experienced the city like true locals. Friendly, engaging, and passionate about his hometown, Musa made the tour both informative and unforgettable. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable and personable guide in Ankara, Musa is an outstanding choice.
For the date we were visiting Ankara it turned out to be a private tour for our family. We enjoyed the undivided attention. Musa answered all our questions about the history of Ankara, taking us step by step through the timeline. Many puzzle pieces we were missing fell right into place. From the roman period, the ottoman period and modern time, Musa spoke passionately, painting a clear picture. We visited mosques and churches, the castle, the roman temple, the column and many other landmarks. We were given a lot of recommendations. Although it’s a 20 min. climb to the castle, the pace was adapted to our needs, making it easy for our 5yo to keep up. We would like to have a guide like Musa for all the cities we’ll visit.
This was an excellent tour to get an overview of Ankara! Awais was kind and respectful and I would have felt completely comfortable with him even as a solo female traveler. He provided good information about Ankara and great conversation.
Musa è stato molto disponibile e bravo nello spiegare la storia di Ankara e dei monumenti che ci ha mostrato. Simpatico e gentile! Consigliato!
Musa's tour felt like meeting your hospitable very courteous local friend. Although I booked the tour only few hours in advance & I was the only one on the tour, he didn't cancel.
Musa is a great energetic guy, knows a lot and never lets you get bored. Definitely recommend!
When I told my friends I was heading to Ankara, they asked, "Why? There's nothing to see there!" But I was pleasantly surprised by how many historical gems the city holds! Musa was a fantastic guide - insightful, funny, and fluent in English. If you ever visit Ankara, make sure to join Musa’s tour!
Musa best tour guide ever. The tour never got boring. Musa is energetic funny and very smart. Thanks Musa for great tour will book more
Couldn’t go ahead with the tour as he didn’t get enough people to run it, so I can’t review!
Had a great and talkative tour with Awais where he showed us some very interesting local spots
I absolutely loved to go on this tour with Ahmet! I have visited Istanbul, Ankara and Cappadocia and Ankara is my favourite by far. Ahmet is so knowledgeable and showed me so many places, I really experienced the local culture as we went to places not crowded by tourists. Ahmet also had really good recommendations (e.g for Turkish bath, local market, etc.) and we had lunch at a restaurant with stunning views over Ankara. I was the only person in the tour that day and I can only recommend you book this tour if you visit Ankara, 10 out of 10. Thanks a lot for a memorable tour, Ahmet!! :)
We had a wonderful experience exploring Ankara, and Awais, our tour guide truly made it special. He was incredibly friendly, kind, and clearly very familiar with the city. He provided us with helpful and interesting information throughout the tour, which made it easy to connect with the places we visited. It was really nice having him as our guide — his warm personality and knowledge added so much to the experience. Highly recommended!
Awais did a great job with his tour! It is always nice to learn about the city and people from inhabitants that live there. :) It was so kind of Awais, to still do the tour only for me, after the other person cancelled last minute.
