We really enjoyed our tour with Uriel. The strength of this tour is the passion and humanity of the guide. Uriel speaks proudly of the strength of Palenque women who have guided and educated younger generations. I didn’t give all 5 stars because Uriel kindly did the tour in English which is not his first language which meant that some of the subtleties were lost. We agreed beforehand that he would do most of the tour in English. That said, the importance of the topic to understanding Cartagena and its importance to the overall Colombian culture cannot be understated. Uriel is from and of Cartagena. Walking around the town with him, we were able for a moment, to break that ‘tourist vs local barrier’.
Aprendimos un montón sobre la historia de Cartagena desde el Palenque. Fue un tour muy completo y entretenido. Vale muchísimo la pena y aún más con Uriel siendo él de Palenque.
