Hola, soy estadounidense y estoy casada con un nativo. Me interesa la historia religiosa y política, especialmente las cosas raras y alocadas. En mi juventud hice mucho autostop, ordeñé vacas e incluso di clases en la universidad.
Really excellent tour. James knows a lot about the city and its history, both the standard stuff and fun "off the beaten path" extras. He was super engaging, very knowledgeable but without being formal or boring. Absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique tour with an insightful guide.
Was very happy with the tour. Perfect day to be out and learning.
My recent guided city tour of Amsterdam with James was truly exceptional. James has a remarkable ability to weave together Amsterdam’s rich cultural, religious, political, and philosophical history in a way that kept us engaged and inspired from start to finish. His deep knowledge was evident as he provided thoughtful insights and vivid examples to illustrate Amsterdam’s pioneering role throughout the ages. What stood out most was James’s skill in highlighting moments where history seemed to repeat itself, connecting past events to present-day situations in a way that made the city’s story feel relevant and alive. His enthusiasm for Amsterdam is genuine and infectious. If you’re looking for a tour that goes beyond the usual tourist highlights and offers deeper understanding and a meaningful exploration of the city of Amsterdam, I highly recommend this guided city tour. James’s passion and expertise will leave you with a deeper appreciation of Amsterdam and a sense of wonder about its ongoing journey through history.
I went on this tour with my partner and we were very glad we did. James is friendly, knows his way around the city and has a lot of knowledge about the history. The route was very interesting and has a nice flow. We loved the story of the city and how many things started here in such a small city.. Totally recommend it..
I have never gone on any tours before yesterday. A friend suggested I go while I was in Amsterdam and I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. James took us to a variety of places that I would never have known to stop and enjoy if not for the tour. I found the 1960s counter culture info to be really interesting and it made me aware of the Cobra Museum (a must see!). The religious, art, and trade history I learned about was also really interesting and not what I would have picked up on had I just read a few tour guides. All in all, this was a ton of fun. I'll be trying out tours again in the future and hope I come across guides that do it as well as James did in Amsterdam.
