I’ve taken free walking tours in almost every major city I’ve visited, and unfortunately this was the most disappointing one. The tour ended up being just my partner and me, which should have made for a more personalized experience, but it didn’t turn out that way. Our guide, Natalie, had us take a couple of “explore on your own” stops while she stayed behind on her phone. When I asked for a recommendation for a pastry shop—either in the area we were touring or near where we were staying—I was told there really wasn’t anything around and most people just made the cookies I was trying to find at home. Because it was only the two of us, there were several long, awkward silences rather than engaging conversation or added insights about the city. The tour ended with a Pisco sour tasting, but the shop tried to overcharge us $10 for a tiny 50ml bottle, which left an even worse impression. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this particular tour. It didn’t meet the standard of other walking tours I’ve experienced and felt like a missed opportunity to showcase the city.
La guía Samira estupenda.
