An unforgettable free walking tour through the heart of Fes We had the absolute pleasure of joining a free walking tour in Fes, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip to Morocco. Our guide was the wonderful Abderrahime, a retired teacher with a true passion for storytelling. From the moment we met him, it felt like we were stepping into a living history lesson — his words were captivating, his energy infectious, and his love for his city truly inspiring. Abderrahime told us, “I will take you on a journey through time,” and he absolutely delivered. We started in a more modern part of the medina and gradually descended — century by century — into the historical depths of the old city. Each section was introduced with a sparkle in his eye and a question: “Do you feel it? We’re entering another century now.” And it genuinely felt that way. The way he structured the tour made it feel like a story unfolding in real time. He shared not only historical facts and cultural insights, but also personal experiences of growing up in Fes, which added such a human and authentic layer to the tour. He welcomed every question with kindness and patience and made sure everyone in the group felt involved and looked after. At one point, we lingered at a carpet shop to buy some souvenirs, and while the group moved ahead, Abderrahime stayed close by, keeping an eye on us to make sure we didn’t get lost. We felt safe and supported the entire time. Another charming detail: to make sure no one got lost in the crowded streets, he gave us a tiny travel companion — a small camel figurine we could follow through the maze-like medina. It was a small gesture, but one that made a big difference in helping us stay together and enjoy the walk stress-free. This wasn’t just a walking tour — it was a journey, a classroom, a time capsule, and a personal story all rolled into one. We cannot recommend this experience enough. If you’re visiting Fes and want to truly understand the soul of the city, go on this tour — and if you're lucky enough to get Abderrahime as your guide, you're in for something truly special.
He was very charismatic, entertaining with a lot of knowledge to share with us, very generous of his Time
This is one of the best tours I have done in my life. Abdulrahim is an amazing storyteller and had the perfect plan to narrate the history of fez. He explained not only fez, but the culture of Morocco as a whole. He kept us engaged for 3 hrs and we didn't even know when the time flew. He was humble and kind and extremely professional. So happy to have chosen this tour. Highly recommended!
I have done 100s of free walking tours and this was one of the best. Abdullah used a headset when so we could hear in the Medina and was able to cover 1000 years of history and show how people still live today. Must do when in Fez!
