Galo is an amazing person - everyone except me cancelled the day of the tour, Galo offered to still go with me if I want, to which I refused to not waste his time with just 1 person, to be polite. He insisted it’s not a problem at all and he took me on a private tour that was incredible. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the art and history of the city and doesn’t pressure you to do or listen to anything you’re not interested in, tailoring the tour to what you want to experience. He showed me some crazy traditional regional snacks and we went for true local taco where he also helped to order, explain the options, and described everything. Can’t say enough good stuff about the attention to the craft, dedication, and personality. 12/10 would go again!
Whether it's your first time in Guadalajara or the third time, like us, I can almost guarantee you ou will learn something new and interesting when you take a walk with Galo. The start time, early evening, is an excellent time to photograph the historic center of the city. The night lighting of the buildings brings out details not easily visible in the mid-day sun. The cooler evening temperature made the walk pleasant. Galo's love of his adopted city is quite apparent as he conveys historical facts and some ghostly tales of past events. If you are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and informative guide, for an evening stroll, filled with history and restaurant recommendations, you can't go wrong. Go and enjoy!
Galo was absolutely incredible. He prefaced that he would hold a conversational tour about the rich history rather than throwing useless facts at us, and he did exactly that. He took us to several plazas which were right next to each other, showed us food, bars, mercados, and more. It was too late in the evening to catch most of the vendors, but that wasn't his fault. We got to see the views in the twilight, and most importantly got to see all the lights on the buildings and sculptures. 10/10, would recommend and would attend another tour!
Taking a free tour is always a roll of the dice, but my friend and I had a great time with Galo! It ended up being a private tour because of cancellations, but Galo was very professional, entertaining, and pleasant to spend time with. It was great to experience the architecture and city at night — we saw a very cool light show projected on the church, and with the opportunities for snacks on the way, I tried grasshoppers, and we enjoyed a sweet treat near the end of the tour. Galo also gave us recommendations of places to try on our own, and offered to wait with us until our taxi arrived — such a nice gesture. Take this tour, it was great! Thank you Galo!
